To begin this tutorial, open the Help menu within Flashpoint Campaigns: Cold War. Navigate to the Field Manuals folder and locate the FM03A Tutorial Operations: Basic.pdf file. Follow the instructions in Section 3 to launch Tutorial - Basic Operations.

NOTE: Only Playable from Player 1

Tutorial Operations: Basic is designed to guide new and returning players in mastering Flashpoint Campaigns Cold War (FCCW). This manual provides clear, step-by-step instructions, practical examples, and detailed explanations to introduce fundamental gameplay mechanics, including:

User Interface Layout (UI)

Understanding Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Issuing Orders to Units

Command and Control (C2)

End Game Post Mortem

You will command elements of an Armored Calvary Regiment to seize and hold Objective Able from an expected Soviet mechanized attack. You will also have the support of an artillery battery and air support. Good Luck Commander!

NOTE: This scenario may be challenging at first, but you can repeat it any number of times to work on the various skills before moving on to other more advanced topics in the other Tutorials.

This tutorial is intended for new and returning players and serves as a means to learn the games basic mechanics and serve as a Quick-Start. We strongly advise players to skim FM01 Game Operations in order to get a better idea of all of the features and information the game has to offer.

NOTE: This tutorial includes hostile ground forces commanded by the games AI and all combat mechanics are in place. If you find the first outing difficult, you can replay the scenario and change the difficulty level to Recruit, so you can see the enemies movements and more detailed information about them.

By the end of this tutorial, you should understand how to navigate the UI, order various types of units to perform actions to fulfill your objective, understand the importance of proper SOPs, maintain Command and Control over your forces, and finish the battle to review the outcome.
